For professionals

Refer a woman to ODARA

We accept referrals from housing officers, social workers, IDVAs, health professionals, police, schools and the voluntary sector. Women can also refer themselves.

What to expect

  1. Send the referral

    Call us to discuss the referral, then email the details. Include a DASH risk assessment if you have one.

  2. We contact the woman

    On a safe number and at a safe time you’ve agreed with her.

  3. Needs assessment and matching

    We confirm eligibility, risks and needs, and match her to a suitable home.

  4. We keep you updated

    With her consent, we tell you the outcome and join multi-agency meetings, including MARAC, as needed.

Please use your organisation’s secure email, and mark the subject ‘Referral’.

Include

  • Her name, and a safe way and time to contact her
  • Children coming with her, and their ages
  • Your DASH risk assessment, if completed
  • Her preferred language
  • Confirmation she has agreed to the referral

Referral criteria

Women who have experienced domestic abuse, need support to live safely, and can engage weekly. See eligibility.

Self-referrals

Women can contact us directly on 0121 392 9499. We’ll call back on a safe number at a safe time.

Out of hours

If the woman is at immediate risk, call 999. For out-of-hours housing, contact Birmingham City Council’s emergency housing team.
