About ODARA
Set up by women, for women, in Birmingham
ODARA began as a women’s network: coffee mornings where women could talk about the things that were hard to raise anywhere else. It grew into safe homes, care and training, but the idea is the same: a warm welcome, no judgement, and a door that is always open.
Our story
ODARA was founded by Aysha in Birmingham and has been working with women in the city since 2015. Many of the women who came to our early meetings were dealing with isolation, family pressure, abuse or money worries, and had nowhere they felt understood.
Over time we added workshops on the issues women asked about, from online safety to hate crime. Then, because too many women had nowhere safe to live, we opened women-only supported homes.
Today ODARA runs supported housing, care services and a training academy, and still hosts the community conversations where it all began.
